Thermomass System CIP is a patented insulation system designed to create an integrally insulated cast-in-place concrete wall. The system is unique in that it allows a concrete contractor to incorporate a layer of insulation into a vertically cast concrete wall using traditional forming equipment and construction practices.

System CIP generally utilizes either Thermomass SL Series or TL Series connectors that not only tie the two layers of concrete together, but also act as a positioning device for the insulation. This system allows the designer the flexibility to have varying thicknesses of concrete on the interior and exterior wall.
When cast into a concrete wall, the insulation allows the layers of concrete to be left exposed or finished in a variety of methods. This is great for above – and below-grade construction, when the location and treatment of insulation is traditionally a challenge, especially when in contact with soil in exterior application.
System CIP was the first system developed by Thermomass in 1980. The first project was a nine-story apartment building in Minnesota.
