Thermomass announced today that Miguel Branco has been hired to head the organization’s global business development efforts in his new role as International Engineering Manager. Branco previously served as a Structural Engineer for the company from 2009 to 2012, and has continued to work as a consultant for Thermomass since then.
Originally from Portugal, Branco has a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon. He has had a distinguished career with extensive experience in structural design engineering, research and development, and technical sales both in the commercial and petrochemical industries.
“This is, hands down, a fantastic development for both our current organization as well as our future plans,” said Thermomass President, Brad Nesset. “Miguel brings a wealth of industry experience, an intimate knowledge of Thermomass, high energy, and vision that will help us reach our aggressive international sales goals.”
In his new role, Branco will lead the development of numerous European permit and code approvals, serve as a point of contact for international industry associations, provide responsive support and assistance for local customers and distributors, and identify additional opportunities for current and future Thermomass products and services within the concrete sandwich wall connector market. He enters this new position with no misunderstanding about the challenges ahead.
“Concrete construction is a very mature market in Europe. There are already a number of well-positioned organizations, and the approval process for new products is demanding because it encompasses requirements from many different countries,” said Branco. “But Thermomass has seen exciting growth there in recent years, and my goal is to build on Thermomass’ long history as the industry leader in America to create a similarly strong position in the European market.”
In the short term, Miguel will continue to work from his office in Houston, Texas, while he and his family look for a home in Europe.
“Professionally, this move will allow me to expand on Thermomass’ influence in Europe,” said Branco, “and for my family, this will be a unique chance to experience different cultures and other countries. It’s a terrific opportunity for all of us.”
