In a guest article for Green Building Advisor, Brian Butler recounts the process of installing a new Thermomass-insulated foundation under a historic Massachussetes home.
After interior demolition and asbestos removal, the old home was lifted into place so an energy-efficient basement could be built to replace the crumbling old foundation.
This job was a great opportunity to save a little piece of Cambridge’s historical past. The home got a new lease on life, and will provide thermal comfort that is better than a code-built new-construction home.
