| The architects of this shopping
center in Lee's Summit, Missouri, needed a construction methodology
to help them meet the aggressive 150 day construction schedule set
forth by the owners. By choosing THERMOMASS and tilt-up construction
they were able to meet their goal.
THERMOMASS allows the panels to serve structural
and insulation functions limiting the need to incorporate multiple
materials and trades.
This lifestyle center was constructed as ten shell
buildings for some of the nation’s largest retailers including
Best Buy, Borders, Dicks Sports, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, Famous Footwear
and Petco. THERMOMASS met all of their design and energy needs.
The project’s location and the fact that
it was the first significant retail development in the southeast
Kansas City metro area made it a highly visible project. Great effort
was taken to ensure architectural appeal with the application of
Indicot Brick, colored concrete with a sandblasted finish and other
masonry accents.
