| SiteCast Construction found tilt-up
to be the most viable solution for a 49,300 square foot two-story
elementary school in the Ontario marketplace. They broke ground
on March 1 and the facility was completed in time for the 1999 school
year in August (116 working days).
"Tilt-up construction allowed our local school
board the ability to provide a new school within six months compared
to using traditional construction methods which typically require
eight to 10 months," said Shawn Hickey, SiteCast Vice President.
To further illustrate the design flexibility of
concrete sandwich panels, the Scott Brick System was used on the
exterior to create an attractive looking educational facility.
Because THERMOMASS was used for increased thermal
efficiency, the school district can expect to experience a total
energy savings of almost 58% as compared to conventional building
methods. Such extensive savings could be used to fund additional
programs or hire more teachers.
This school was awarded a 2001 "Tilt-Up Achievement
Awards" by the Tilt-Up Concrete Association.
